Did you know that almost 100 of the children who attend Open Arms Academy do not live at the Village? For many of those children, their time at school is a lifeline to stability and safety. Many have very unstable home lives and find life-saving meals, medical care, direction and hope only at school.
One such child is Martin - a high-energy, soccer-loving boy from the community outside of Open Arms Village. When Martin didn’t seem to be acting normal, his teachers quickly noticed the change. They brought him for medical assessment at the Village and then for urgent medical treatment at the local hospital, where he was diagnosed with a life-threatening infection that had quickly spread throughout his young body. If he hadn’t received treatment quickly, this child would have been lost! Thanks to the attentiveness and quick action of his teachers, his life was saved.
Safe, caring adults are vital to healthy development. Your donation to the 2019 Back-to-School Campaign assures children like Martin a place to grow mentally, physically and spiritually. Please give today!
